Database_Version: STReaMS v1 Geospatial_Data_Presentation_Form: Map Publication_Information: Publication_Place: Fort Collins, Colorado USA Publisher: The Colorado Natural Heritage Program, Colorado State University Description: Abstract: This dataset is a repository for fish and pit tag data collected by the Colorado River Basin Recovery Programs, although other agencies and partners have contributed data. The recovery programs are a consortium of governmental agencies, water interests, and environmental groups working to recover Endangered fishes in the Colorado River basin while water development proceeds in compliance with Federal and State laws. These data are a compilation of data collected by the programs and partners from a variety of field projects over the past several decades. Data include details of stocking events, field captures, remote detections, passive interrogation arrays, studies, and pit tag distributions. Purpose: To protect and recover Endangered fishes while water development proceeds in accordance with State and Federal laws. Supplemental_Information: Data were derived from field surveys performed by program personnel and partners on a variety of projects. Collection protocols may vary by project. Field equipment is documented if it was provided by the Principal Investigator. For detailed information on data collection methods, review the detailed project reports online at: http://www.coloradoriverrecovery.org/documents-publications/documents-publications.html http://www.fws.gov/southwest/sjrip/DR.cfm Latitude/Longitude is provided as a consistent reference for all spatial data. In some instances raw data were provided in UTMs (either Zone 12 or Zone 13). When this occurred, the native UTM coordinates were maintained in the database and projected to Latitude/Longitude, NAD83. In other instances, only river miles were provided down to 1/10th of a mile. In this case, latitude and longitude were assigned based on the river mile documented in the field. Older data were likely collected in NAD27, although no datum was provided with the raw data. GIS staff had to use professional judgement based on dates and placement of coordinates on the map to identify NAD27 coordinates and convert them to NAD83 for spatial consistency. Data maintained in the STReaMS database are an integral part of ongoing research and reflect the observations of many scientists, institutions and our current state of knowledge. These data are acquired from various sources, with varying levels of accuracy and completeness, and are continually being updated and revised. This dataset is a repository for fish and pit tag data collected by the Colorado River Basin Recovery Programs, although other agencies and partners have contributed data. The data have been collected to meet the needs of the Upper Colorado River Basin recovery programs and may not be appropriate for all uses. Users should refer to detailed reports or contact Principal Investigators to determine appropriate use of the data. Sample designs and collection protocols vary by project. More information about field data collection methods can be found in detailed reports maintained on the recovery program websites: http://www.coloradoriverrecovery.org/documents-publications/documents-publications.html http://www.fws.gov/southwest/sjrip/DR.cfm The absence of data in any particular geographic area does not necessarily mean that species of concern are not present, but rather our files do not currently contain information to document this presence.
